ILR Speaking

How much does the English test for ILR cost?

The price is set by each test provider and depends on the test and the country. As one example, Trinity College London lists its UK SELT tests, including the B1 speaking and listening test used for ILR today, at £160 on its own site.

Why we do not give one price

The Home Office does not set test prices. Each provider (Trinity College London, the IELTS SELT Consortium, LANGUAGECERT, Pearson, and PSI outside the UK) publishes its own, and prices differ by test, level and country and can change. Check the price on the provider's own site before you book.

Beware of third-party fees

GOV.UK says that if you book through a third party, their fees should be the same as, or lower than, the price on the test provider's website, and it strongly recommends using official channels. It also warns that some third parties claim links to the Home Office's partners when they have none.

If you fail one part

GOV.UK says that in some cases you may be allowed to resit one failed component, depending on the provider's terms. Check those terms before booking.

Before you spend anything

You may not need a test at all. The free checker checks that, and Which tests count? explains the options.
