Privacy notice

Your data and the early-access list

Last updated 19 October 2026.

This notice explains what ILR Speaking keeps when you visit this website or join the early-access list, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who we are

The data controller is Gradence Technologies Ltd (trading as ILR Speaking), registered in England and Wales, company no. 16862346. Registered office: 124-128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. For anything about your data, email [email protected] or use the contact form.

What we keep

If you join the early-access list we store:

If you send a message with the contact form, we store your name, email address and message, and the date and time, and the message is emailed to us (through our Google Workspace email account) so we can reply. We keep messages for up to 12 months, or less if you ask.

When anyone visits, we also keep anonymous daily totals: how many times the home page was opened, how many times the early-access button was used, and how many people joined. These totals contain no personal data.

What we do not do

Why, and our lawful basis

We use your email to tell you when ILR Speaking opens and, occasionally, to ask a short question about what would help you prepare. We use country and first language to decide which languages to support first. For the early-access list our lawful basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you give by ticking the box on the form; you can withdraw it at any time. For contact messages it is our legitimate interest in answering the message you sent (Article 6(1)(f)).

Where it is kept and for how long

The list is stored in a database on a server we rent in the European Economic Area, reachable only by us. We keep your details until you ask us to delete them, or until 12 months after ILR Speaking opens if you have not signed up by then, whichever comes first.

Your rights

You can ask to see the details we hold about you, to correct them, or to have them deleted, and you can withdraw your consent. Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with; we will act within one month, usually much sooner. To delete, just say "delete me".

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Changes

If we change this notice we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use details you have already given, we will email you first.
